CYPRUS INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY (CIU) was established in 1997. It is a modern, innovative institution providing its students a center of excellent international distinction. With all its academic and social activities, the University's prime commitment is to provide educational facilities to satisfy the needs of a modern technological society. Thus, whilst these needs are broadly provided, CIU has developed a deliberate policy of making its courses practical and relevant.
The Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) (in Greek: Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου) is a young university established in 2004. It plans to admit its first students in the near future and hopes to fill in gaps that still exist within Cyprus’ higher education by offering degrees in undergraduate and post graduate levels that are not offered by the University of Cyprus or by other higher education institutions.
Established in 1979, Eastern Mediterranean University offers programs fully recognized by Council of Higher Education in Turkey. Having completed its physical infrastructure, the campus spreads over an area of 2200 acres, Eastern Mediterranean University continues to grow, to expand and be the pioneer in the area with more than 1000 faculty members coming from 35 countries, and with a student body of 14.000 comprised of 68 different nationalities.
The European University of Lefke was founded by the Cyprus Science Foundation in 1989 and opened in 1990. EUL, as a non-profit public university has a very competitive tuition fee.
Girne American University was founded in 1985 as an independent, non-profit institution of higher education. From its establishment, the university has focused on providing access to an American-based higher education to the widest possible group of young learners. In charting its course for the next century, GAU will continue to be guided by this special mission.
METU was invited by the Turkish and Turkish Cypriot states to establish an international campus on Northern Cyprus to serve not only the Turkish students but also the international community. METU Northern Cyprus Campus (NCC) is a major investment project financed by the state and it enjoys the full academic and administrative support of METU. With its excellent facilities, exceptionally qualified faculty, and highest international standards in teaching, research and community service, METU NCC offers internationally accepted degree programs in engineering and economic and administrative sciences. The language of instruction on the Campus is English. From the very outset, METU NCC, following in the footsteps of its mother institution, the Middle East Technical University in Ankara , Turkey , aims at becoming a select higher education institution of international character.
